The West Indies and United States generated an astounding $1.66 billion US dollars when they hosted the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. This is according to information released by the International Cricket Council. This report has confirmed that cricket has the ability to grow the economies of different nations.
The event was hosted in nine locations from June 1 to 29. It happened in six Caribbean nations, Trinidad and Tobago, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Guyana, Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Lucia and Barbados. It was also hosted in three US cities, Lauderhill (Florida), Grand Prairie (Dallas), and Nassau County (New York). The event was made up of 55 matches.

Future cricketing events will benefit from the upgraded stadiums. They were funded by the ICC, Cricket West Indies and local governments.
The US economy generated US$618.4 million from the tournament. This was created from hosting 16 matches.
On the other hand, the Caribbean nations generated more than one billion. St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Barbados made $132m, $224m and US$428 million respectively. Additionally, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana as well as Antigua and Barbuda generated $259.6m.
The increase in domestic and international visitors resulted in surges in spending on dining, travel and accommodations. Barbados was the fans’ favorite nation to visit in the Caribbean region. Half of the visitors stayed over five nights. The expenditure on food and beverages was US$22.9 million. On the other hand, the US collected $52.9m from food and beverages.
The host nations improved their global standing through media coverage, team branding and broadcast visibility. The media value that was generated was approximately US$92.5m.
Geoff Allardice; who is the ICC Chief Executive, said that he was glad that the tournament was very successful.
