The fact that JC have only lost four times and have netted 67 goals this season encourages the team to excel more
Once again, Jamaica College (JC) has made it to the semi-final of the ISSA/Digicel Manning Cup. They are being challenged by Haile Selassie High’s team which seems unbothered and ready to fight for their place in the tournament.
This is the first double feature game in Stadium East and is expected to determine the semi-final teams. It will leave everyone curious about the upcoming final games.
Last Saturday, the ‘Wolmer’s Boys’ were defeated in the second-half after the ‘Dark Blues’ took advantage of a sudden surge in what was their debut quarterfinal match. A brace from Maquan Aldridge saved the day in the match that went down at the ‘Dark Blues’ home ground, Ashenheim Stadium.
Head coach Davion Ferguson praised his team’s steadiness and collectiveness during the opener which he says will need to be maintained if they wanted to make it to the final four teams.
The fact that JC have only lost four times and have netted 67 goals this season encourages the team to excel more. The team’s coaches witnessed a lively opener between Haile Selassie and St Andrew Technical High School which saw the later secure a 3-2 victory.
Linval Dixon, Haile Sellasie’s head coach, revealed that he was happy with his team’s performance and that he was in no way deterred. After failing to participate in last year’s season due to challenges caused by the pandemic, Haile Selassie’s return has seen them make it to the quarterfinals. The team is now heavily banking on midfielder Jahwan Payne. According to Dixon, Payne has been the team’s most potent player throughout the season as he scored with an impressive attempt from outside the box in the quarterfinal opener.
In the meantime, STATHS meet Wolmer’s in the second double feature game from 3:15 p.m. If they come out victorious, STATHS will make it to the semi-final for their fifth season in a row.
On the other hand, Wolmer’s are currently suffering from several injuries thus the STATHS have an upper-hand in the game. Before their quarterfinal opener against JC, they had to replace the captain Dante Dacres and goalkeeper Roan Melford due to asthma-related issues.
