Nicholas ‘Tazz’ Barnes, Jamaica’s National Car Park Drift champion of 2022, is currently back home in the island and resting after returning from an important trip in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where he was representing Jamaica at the Red Bull Car Park Drift Finals.
Barnes took the crown after outdoing 20 local drivers in October. However, he did not meet his expectations while in Saudi Arabia as a result of incurring some burns from a fire incident during training before the tournament.
According to the 23-year-old, this mishap is what hindered his performance during the tournament as he was driving in so much pain while competing against 25 global drivers.
The prevailing local drift champion was gassed by legend driver Johannes Hountondji from Germany. Nonetheless, he left the competition after failing to gain the 179 points required to proceed to the next round after the first round where he managed to garner 125 points. He entirely blamed the fire misfortune for this.
