Isley pointed out that he was impressed with the ‘on-court’ display by the local coaches during their virtual assessment
Nelson Isley, instructor at the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), is currently in Jamaica for the coaching clinic being staged on the island. He stated that they have had a quite successful first week despite the troubles that come with the course.
Isley pointed out that he was impressed with the ‘on-court’ display by the local coaches during their virtual assessment. The coaches had to show their experience and know-how as well as show how they would handle various challenges in any typical basketball match as part of the assessment.
Nelson, who has been to more than 100 countries for this course, glorified Jamaica’s efforts terming them the standard-setters in the Caribbean region for constantly seeking this type of courses.
According to national basketball coordinator Elfraito Remikie, he is pleased with the outcome of the clinic so far. He further stated that all the 22 coaches taking part in the coaching clinic this year will be included in the nation’s basketball programme starting from the grassroots leagues.
