Thomas Bach, the President of the International Olympic Committee, has arrived in Jamaica on an official visit. This will go down as a historic visit to the island. The world governing Olympic body is hoping to build a strong relationship with Jamaica.
Bach is expected to go through a hectic schedule. Christopher Samuda, the Jamaica Olympic Association president, has expressed optimism that this visit will be very productive.
The JOA administration has built a beautiful working relationship with International Olympic Committee over the years. Jamaica has participated in many Olympic games in recent years.
Some of the most successful Jamaican athletes who have participated in the Olympics include Usain Bolt, Asafa Powell, Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce and Ellaine Thompson-Herrah. According to Ryan Foster, the JOA Secretary General, they hope to continue promoting Jamaica as a global sports superpower. They will continue encouraging athletes who are pursuing excellence.

President Bach will depart for the Dominican Republic on Sunday after completing his mission in Jamaica. Bach competed in the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal where he secured a gold medal.
