There will be a reward of with $500,000 for the winners in the Championship League. There is also $300,000 for the winner of the Major League
The Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) Championship Major and Super League tournaments will begin in the weekend. These competitions originally scheduled to kick off in January.
Mark Bennett, the KSAFA president, told journalists that the competitions were delayed because of shortage of funds. KSAFA has decided to shorten the competition because they don’t want to incur a deficit unnecessary expenditure.
Bennett emphasized that it isn’t possible to host three rounds of games because the sponsorship money isn’t enough. He said that KSAFA only organizes competitions that can break even. The administration has to be sustainable, not just pile up bills. He revealed that they are normally forced to look for different sources of revenue when they can find sponsorships.
Bennett revealed that an ideal budget should be around $13 million. However, they have access to $5 million this season.
There are eight teams in the Championship League; these teams are divided into two zones. On the other hand, there are 16 teams from four zones in the Major League.
There will be a reward of with $500,000 for the winners in the Championship League. There is also $300,000 for the winner of the Major League.
KSAFA also revealed that they will only retain the hosting rights of the final. This means that the clubs will own the hosting rights for all playoff games.
