Jamaican cricketer Rovman Powell has announced that his career at Jamaica Tallawahs has come to an end.
The middle order batsman will now represent the Barbados Royals with Hayden Walsh Jr moving to Tallawahs. In 2022, Powell was a key player when Tallawahs secured the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) title.
The CPL made this announcement on their social media platforms.
On the other hand, Powell thanked his teammates and fans for their support during his time with the Tallawahs. He made this statement via his Instagram page. He said that he will always cherish the friends he created. He also said that it will always feel special that he won two CPL titles with his home franchise. He also thanked his former coaches for helping him improve as a player over the last few years.
The former Tallawahs captain said that he is excited to join the Royals. He revealed that he is now looking forward to the next phase of his career. He is hoping to continue his winning streak in his new team.
Powell is one of the local stars that have left the Tallawahs in recent times. Some of the other notable exits include Andre Russell and Chris Gayle.
The 2023 CPL season is expected to begin on August 17 in five Caribbean islands. However, Jamaica will not be one of the host nations.
