Coach Heimir Hallgrímsson is expected to name the Jamaican squad that will wear the Reggae Boyz colors in the upcoming Concacaf Gold Cup. the team is currently in a friendly match against Jordan. This game is happening in Austria’s Wiener Neustadt Ergo Arena.
Hallgrímsson’s squad will be made up of 23 players. He is expected to name this squad after the contest against Jordan. The coaching staff allowed some senior players a chance to go on holiday. However, coach Hallgrimsson hinted that he will also include the players on holiday in his Gold Cup squad.
Hallgrímsson revealed that he has an idea of who he wants to include in his squad. He even hinted that he might name the squad in the post-game press conference.
However, Ravel Morrison is expected to miss the final Gold Cup squad. The midfielder’s last game for Jamaica came in March when the Boyz drew 2-2 with Mexico. This game was part of the Concacaf Nations League.
According to close sources, coach Hallgrimsson revealed that he wants Morrisson to earn his place in the Reggae Boyz squad. He said that he wasn’t happy with the lack of game time that Morrisson was receiving in club football. However, Morrisson can still make his way back into the national set up if his improves his performances in D.C. United.
Some of the standout players were missing in the Austrian camp include: Bobby Decordova-Reid, Michail Antonio, Jamal Lowe, Ethan Pinnock, Leon Bailey and Damion Lowe.
