The Tallawahs will now clash with the winners of last night’s second play-off on Friday
Brandon King; the captain of the JAMAICA TALLAWAHS, has said that he is happy that the defending Caribbean Premier League champions are finally performing well. This statement comes after a forgettable start to the season.
The Tallawahs defeated St Lucia Kings in a tricky five-wicket victory. This win means that they will advance in the play-offs on Tuesday night.
The two teams were competing at the Guyana National Stadium. The Tallawahs showed their dominance in the humdrum eliminator by bringing down St Lucia Kings’ 126. The Tallawahs will now clash with the winners of last night’s second play-off on Friday. This is between Trinbago Knight Riders and hosts Guyana Amazon Warriors.
King said that the current situation reminds him of last year. He insisted that he is pleased that the Tallawahs are playing their best cricket. He congratulated ”the fellas” for coming out with a vengeance. He had special praise for the bowlers because they’re the ones who made it really easy for the Tallawahs.
Kings secured only 125 for nine from their 20 overs in a low-scoring contest. A spell of four for 25 was achieved after left-arm spinner Fabian Allen wrecked the innings.
Roston Chase recorded a high score of 40 from 36 balls. However, he was the only player to reach 20. Kings last six wickets fell for 45 runs.
The foundation for the successful chase came when King struck 30 in a 43-run opening stand with Englishman Alex Hales (24).
It took just 25 deliveries for the partnership to succeed.
Raymon Reifer produced an unbeaten 30 from 32 balls to help the Tallawah snatch a well-deserved win.
The defeat means that the Kings’ unstable run has come to an end. They never looked like genuine contenders in the crucial playoff game.
