He will be hoping to put his injury problems behind because there is fierce competition in the squad
Jamaican international Leon Bailey is one of the Aston Villa players who missed Aston Villa’s 6-1 win over Brighton. Villa coach Unai Emery said that Bailey wasn’t in a condition to start the premier league game against the Seagulls.
Emery confirmed that Alex Moreno is will also be sidelined despite recovering from an injury that has kept him out since last season. However, he was in the squad that competed against Crystal Palace and Legia.
Highly-rated Jacob Ramsey made his return from injury with a cameo appearance in the second half. He was one of the scorers in the 6-1 demolition of Brighton.
Aston Villa got their first goal when Ollie Watkins scored in the 14th minute. It was a typical striker’s goal. Right-back Matty Cash squared the ball and Watkins finished it off with a simple tap-in. He was in relentless form and it wasn’t shocking that he added a second goal in the 21st minute after receiving a pass from winger Moussa Diaby. It was an exquisite goal that went in through the near post.
Aston Villa kept piling on the pressure and this resulted in an own goal from Pervis Estupinan in the 26th minute.
Brighton fought back with an Ansu Fati goal in the the 50th minute. However, this wasn’t enough because Villa continued to be the better team. Watkins completed his hattrick by grabbing another goal in the 65th minute.
Watkins was in unbelievable form as he went on to create another goal for Jacob Ramsey in the 85th minute.
Douglas Luiz finished the rout with another goal in stoppage time.
Leon Bailey has struggled with injuries since he arrived in Aston Villa. He will be hoping to put his injury problems behind because there is fierce competition in the squad. The club added forward Jhon Duran and prolific winger Moussa Diaby in the summer. Bailey is already behind Diaby in the pecking order. This means that Bailey will need to have an impressive season in order to avoid being replaced in the summer.
Jamaican fans will be hoping he can stay fit and score many goals this season.
