Justin Gatlin Praises Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce As She Prepares To Retire

She will be remembered as one of the best sprinters of all time when she hangs up her spikes

American sprint legend Justin Gatlin has come out to shower Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce with praise ahead of her impending retirement. The Jamaican sprint legend revealed that she will retire after participates in the 2024 Paris Games.
Gatlin is one of the many track and field stars that have praised the two-time Olympic champion. Gatlin is a former World and Olympic Champion. The American boasts of winning the 2004 Olympic 100m gold medal. He is also the 2005 and 2017 World Champion.
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce made a name for herself when she won gold in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. ‘Mommy Rocket’ went on to enjoy one of the most dominant in track and field careers in history. She will go down in history as the first Jamaican woman to win the 100m race in the Olympics. She became the third woman to secure consecutive Olympic titles after she won in 2012. This feat has only been accomplished by Gail Devers of the USA and Wyoma Tyus.
She proceeded to hold the World and Olympic titles simultaneously after securing the world 100 title in 2009 in Berlin. This made her the first woman to have these two accolades at the same time. She repeated this feat when she won in London in 2012 and Moscow in 2013.
It’s achievements like these that are causing lamentations from Gatlin and other top athletes. The Paris Olympics is scheduled for the summer, this will be Jamaican’s fifth Olympic campaign.
Gatlin described Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce as a female juggernaut of track and field. He described Fraser-Pryce as an inspiration because of her work on and off the sport. He said that he remembers meeting her in 2008 and he never knew that she would have such a colorful career. He said that she deserves the success she has enjoyed because of her good deeds off the track.
The Jamaican authorities honored Fraser-Pryce with a statue that is located in Independence Park in Kingston.
Gatlin, who was one of Usain Bolt’s most fierce rival, said that Fracer-Pryce’s rivalry with Elaine Thompson-Herah brought a lot of excitement to the sport. She will be remembered as one of the best sprinters of all time when she hangs up her spikes.
Fraser-Pryce won 100m races at the World Championships in 2022, 2019, 2013, 2009 and 2007. She recently finished in third position in the championships in Budapest, Hungary. However, she was forced to miss the 2017 championship because she was pregnant.
She told journalists that she is retiring so that she can spend more time with her son Zyon and her other family members.
