The Reggae Girlz will be represented by a 22-player squad in two friendly games against Chile. The Jamaica Football Federation made this announcement despite the ongoing disputes in Jamaica women’s football. The games are scheduled to happen on February 23 and 27.
Unsurprisingly, the squad lacked names of important first-team regulars who continue abstain from the national team. Most of these players are the World Cup heroes who are protesting against mistreatment by the JFF and unpaid fees.
Jamaica will be represented by players from various universities and backgrounds. Some of the standout athletes include Sydnie Street from Seneca College, Serena Mensa from Fordham University and Serena Mensa from Fordham University, and Theana Burnett from Sacred Heart University. Some of the other players are from SK Slavia Praha Zeny, SCU Torreense and George Mason University.
The Jamaican squad is inexperienced andit will be tested by a formidable Chilean teams. The Jamaican team will assemble in Chile on 21st February. The squad is brimming with unity and determination.
The squad is made up of a cohesive unit that has talented individuals. Every individual brings unique skills and experiences. They are ready to represent the nation at the highest level.
The list of players includes Ricshya Walker from LaSalle University, Alika Keene from SK Slavia Praha Zeny and Nevillegail Able from the University of Maine. Lexi Lloyd-Smith from Southampton FC Women’s, Njeri Butts of the University Of Florida, Melissa Johnson, Charlton Athletic Women FC and Christina Salmon, William Carey University.
Xavier Gilbert will be leading the charge as the the Head Coach of the Reggae Girlz. He will be working together with Assistant Coach Jermaine Thomas. The supporting staff includes Team Doctor Ruchelle Brown and Manager Crystal Walters. The staff is also composed of GK Coach Everdean Scarlet, physiotherapist Ashley Stephens, trainer Leacroft Lettman, equipment manager Omar Folkes and masseur Devin Lawson.
