He recently departed from Major League Soccer team DC United
Reggae Boy Ravel Morrison is being pursued by three English Championship clubs. Peterborough United, Bolton Wanderers and Sheffield Wednesday are the three clubs that want his services.
The 31-year-old midfielder became a free agent in the beginning of 2024. He is eager to return back to the pitch after he recently departed from Major League Soccer team DC United.
Sheffield Wednesday believes that Morrison can add goals in their team as they battle to remain in the Championship. Bolton and Peterborough, who are League One promotion hopefuls, see Morrison as a quality addition. They believe he can give them an edge in the final weeks of the season.
Morrison has accumulated 18 caps for Jamaica after making his national team debut in November 2020. He has scored two goals for the Reggae Boyz. Morrison’s most memorable moment was a crucial goal against Honduras in a World Cup qualification match. However, the attacking midfielder has been left out of the Jamaican squad since March 2023. Coach Heimir Hallgrimson has sidelined him because he hasn’t been active in club football.
Morrison might get recalled by the Jamaican squad if he signs with one of the three clubs pursuing him. However, he will have to move quickly because the Reggae Boyz’s next game will be in late March. They will facing the United States in the semi-finals of the CONCACAF Nations Cup.
It will be intriguing to see whether Morrison will move to Sheffield Wednesday, considering he used to play for their rivals Sheffield United in the 2019-20 season.
