Bicknell Hoping To Entertain Tennis Fans On Home Soil

He is participating in the ongoing Jamaica ITF M15 Challenge Championships

Blaise Bicknell, Jamaica’s number one tennis player, is hoping to put on a show when he participates in the Jamaica ITF M15 Challenge Championships. He has been enjoying a long winning streak, with the latest one being against compatriot Rowland ‘’Randy’’ Phillips. The two players competed in a hard-fought match that was played last weekend.
The 22-year-old Bicknell will be competing against Japan’s Kousuke Ogura. The two players will be playing in the tournament’s opening match. This game will happen at the Eric Bell Tennis Centre today.
Bicknell, the 309th ranked player in the world, won the Bounty Invitational Tournament after defeating Phillips 6-4, 7-5. Bicknell has expressed confidence in his ability to put on another masterclass performance.
“There are numerous international competitors in this tournament, and as the top seed, people expect me to standout, but I am confident in my abilities,” said Bicknell. “I won a tournament last week, so I’m feeling self-assured and ready to deliver an outstanding performance.”
Ogura is expected to give Bicknell a run for his money. Ogura is a right-handed player who is powerfully built. The Japanese star is the 706th ranked player in the world. The two players will be competing in a tournament that will feature many international players. These players hail from New Zealand, Venezuela, Canada, Dominica, India, Barbados, Brazil and the United States.
Bicknell said that he is expecting an exciting tournament thanks to the many talented players who will be competing in the tournament. He is confident that he will win the title but he is expecting a pulsating battle.
Meanwhile, Daniel Azar and John Chin, will begin competing on Wednesday. They’re also expected to provide competition to Jamaica. Ezekiel Clark of the United States will be competing against his compatriot Miles Jones in today’s other games. On the other hand, USA’s Andrew Fenty will be facing off against Emmanuel Munoz from Dominica. Ryan Fishback will be competing against his USA countrymate Alex Jones.
