Kishane Thompson Wins Jamaica’s Third Medal In Olympic Games

This was an impressive achievement because this was Thompson’s second major final

Paris, France — Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson has secured a silver medal in the 100m race in the ongoing Olympic Games. Interestingly, he finished with a similar time Noah Lyles the winner of the race. They both finished with a time of 9.79 seconds (1.m/s). The athletes were competing in the Stade de France stadium.
The third position was taken by USA’s Fredrick Lee Kerley. He finished with a time of 9.81 seconds. The 100m final was very dramatic and the winners were separated by a very small margin. In fact, Lyles won because his torso was the first part of his body to cross the line.
Shaneika Ricketts was the third Jamaican to win a medal in the triple jump event. Jamaica also boasts of a bronze medal from shot putter Rajindra Campbell.
This is the first time that a Jamaican man has won a medal in major global championships. The last man to accomplish this was Usain Bolt. Bolt secured a bronze medal during the 2017 World Championships.
This was an impressive achievement because this was Thompson’s second major final. The 23-year-old is on his eighth race of the season. He held his nerves in what was a very competitive race.
Oblique Seville was eighth with a time of 9.91 seconds despite looking superb in the semi-finals.
The race began after waiting for longer than usual. The race was tight from the beginning but Thompson was edged by Lyles at the very end. The two athletes were only separated by a thousandth of a second. Lyles has been prolific in recent events having won the 2023 World Championships.
