Ackeem Blake Says He Was Determined To Win Diamond League After Olympic Failure

The Jamaican won the Diamond League with an impressive time of 9.93 seconds

Ackeem Blake has revealed that he was determined to win the Diamond League after his setback in the Olympics.
The Jamaican was left devastated when he was knocked out in the semi-finals of the Olympics 100m race. He recorded a time of 10.06 seconds to finish in the fifth position. He was hoping to deliver a legendary performance but he was left dejected after the tournament. However, Blake didn’t let the Olympics define the rest of his season.
The 22-year-old revealed that he was guided by his coach throughout the Brussels Diamond League Final. The sprinter believes that the Diamond League is a perfect tournament to prove himself on the highest levels.
Blake began the year by finishing first in the Glasgow World Indoor Championships. He was competing in the 60m dash. With a 9.89 seconds personal best, it was clear that he was capable of producing moments of brilliance.
Blake’s coach said that he only needs to find consistency in order to compete with world-class athletes.
Blake revealed that his coach had played a major role in his comeback. He helped him create a strong mentality. It is this mental fortitude that he has used to overcome tough situations throughout his career.
“I heard my coach shouting instructions at me throughout the race. I was focused on producing an impressive performance in the Diamond League,” said Blake.
Blake and his team were rewarded for their intense focus and meticulous planning. The Jamaican won the Diamond League with an impressive time of 9.93 seconds. He defeated American sprinters Fred Kerley and Christian Coleman.
