Fraser-Pryce Refuses To Address Retirement Rumors After Paris Withdrawal

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has refused to make any commitment about the future of her sprinting career. The Jamaican sprint legend has been tight lipped ever since she participated in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
She was forced to withdraw from the 4x100m event and the semifinals of the 100m race because of an annoying injury. Many of the sport’s enthusiasts have been speculating that the 37-year-old intends to retire.
During the Olympics, she claimed that she was making her final appearance in the Olympic Games. However, she also revealed that she might participate in other track and field tournaments.
On Wednesday, the World Championship and multiple Olympic gold medalist refused to offer any clarity on her future. She was speaking during a presentation ceremony at the Pocket Rocket Foundation Scholarship Awards. This event took place in the AC Hotel in Kingston.
“I prefer not to speak on that issue at the current moment. I have no answers about my future,” she said.
However, she acknowledged that the public has shown her a lot of love and support during a difficult 2024 season.
There are 20 high school student athletes who will benefit from Fraser-Pryce’s foundation. She is providing scholarships for youngsters who are good at hockey, athletics, table tennis, volleyball, basketball, netball and football.
The Fraser Pryce-chaired foundation has been in existence for 11-years and it has awarded approximately 100 scholarships.
