KINGSTON, Jamaica— Jamaica’s Sunshine Girls won the final game of the Horizo+n Series after they smashed the England Roses. The game ended with a score-line of 61-53. This win means that the Jamaicans went home with a 2-1 series victory.
Earlier, the Jamaicans had disappointed in the England leg. However, they made a comeback on home soil. On Monday, they secured a 50-49 win in the first match. This game was played in the National Indoor Sports Centre.
This series win was as a result of momentum that was carried into the final game. They produced many memorable performances that showcased their netball prowess.
The Jamaicans were led by Romelda Aiken-George who scored 40 goals after making 43 attempts. The Sunshine Girls also got goals from Shanice Beckford who scored 21 from 25.
Liv Tchine was the shinning light in the England team. She delivered 42 goals attempting to score 47 times. Louis Pearson also contributed 11 from 13.
England dominated the early stages of the game and they even had an early 8-3 lead. However, the Jamaicans closed the gap before long. The Roses lead was reduced to 15-11 by the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Sunshine Girls kept fighting and they completed their comeback. They were leading 28-26 at the half break.
The two teams exchanged blows in what turned out to be an exciting third quarter. The Jamaicans maintained their dominance in the heated battle 42-39.
The Jamaicans sealed the deal in a thrilling finale 61-53.
