Southampton FC has signed Reggae Girl Siobhan Wilson on a loan deal that will last for the rest of the season. The English team is currently playing in the second division league known as the Women’s Championship.
This deal is between Southampton FC and Birmingham FC. She has been a Birmingham player since 2022. She recently came back from an ACL injury that had kept her out for a long time.
The versatile left-sided player revealed that she is excited by the idea of playing for the Saints.
“I would like to send a message to the Southampton fans. I hope to see you in the stadium. I believe that we can achieve a lot in the second half of the season. I can’t wait to get started,” said Wilson. This message was delivered through an Instagram post that was delivered through the Saints FC Women page.
She also received a congratulatory message from the Jamaica Football Federation. They delivered this message through an Instagram post.
“We would like to congratulate Siobhan Wilson for completing a move to Southampton FC. She played a major role when the Reggae Girls delivered a 3-0 win over South Africa. She got her first goal for the nation in this game.”
The 30-year-old is the child of professional football player – Clive Wilson who is a British-Jamaican individual. Siobhan Wilson was born and raised in England but she chose to represent Jamaica.
Wants consistency
Wilson used to play for Charlton and Crystal Palace before she arrived in Birmingham. She is hoping that her latest move to Southampton will bring some consistency in her career.
“For me it’s about getting back on the pitch and playing on a regular basis. I believe that I have a lot to offer this team. I will work hard in training so that I can deliver good performances in the Championship games. I am hoping to provide a lot of assists for the attackers,” she told southamptonfc.com.
Remi Allen; the Southampton coach, said that the club is excited to add the Jamaican in his squad.
Speaking on the same forum, Southampton coach Remi Allen said the club was delighted to have her for the remainder of the season. He believes that her strong character will help bounce back from the effects of her injury.
“She is an asset and I believe that she’ll add value on and off the pitch,” he said.
