KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaican Premier League fans were treated to an entertaining match when Molynes United defeated Humble Lion. The match ended with a score-line of 2-1.
This was an important result for Molyness because they had lost their first-round encounter with Humble Lion. The game was played in the Drewsland Mini Stadium. This result means that Molynes is now ninth in the JPL after moving up two places.
This was a baptism of fire for the recently-hired Humble Lion coach; Alex Thomas. The Clarendon-based club currently has 14 points and it’s stuck at the bottom of the table.
Molynes United secured the lead after one of the Humble Lion defenders conceded an own goal. This chaos was created from a corner kick situation. The goal happened in the 34th minute. Neither team scored another goal in the first half.
Humble Lion kept fighting back and their efforts were rewarded in the 78th minute. They equalized when James Thomas struck from a right-sided cross. Thomas had been introduced as a second half substitute.
Rushawn Livingston won the game for Molynes when he struck in the 88-th minute goal. This win means that Molynes have now ended their three-game win-less run.
Mt Pleasant FC are the frontrunners in the league with 49 points. They recently won against Tivoli Gardens to maintain their 11 straight wins. The rest of the table is composed of Montego Bay United (41 points), Arnett Gardens (39 points) and Portmore United (34 points). Waterhouse and defending champions Cavalier both have 33 points gained from play-off positions.
