Hibbert’s Mark of 16.66 Metres Made Him the Top Junior in the World this year
Jaydon Hibbert has survived an injury fright and is set to return to competing. He is currently ranked as Jamaica’s top triple jumper. His coach, Jeremy Delisser, revealed that Hibbert is now training again and gearing up for the National Junior Trials.
The youngster recently got a number of persistent injuries which had a negative impact on his performance at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia Pennsylvania.
Hibbert’s mark of 16.66 metres made him the top junior in the world this year. Despite the fact that he felt pain in his knee and right ankle, he came out victorious in the triple jump at the Penn Relays last month, marking 15.94 metres.
According to Delisser, Hibbert has now recovered after taking a break to heal. Hibbert had also won at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships and at the Carifta Games. Delisser said that the injuries were not severe.
The multitalented athlete also secured second place worldwide in the long jump marking 7.87 metres. First place went to American Johnny Brackins with 8.06 metres. Delisser further revealed that it was not yet clear whether Hibbert will be doing the double at the Trials or not.
He said that the decision will be made as they approach the event scheduled for June 23rd to June 26th at the National Stadium. Hibbert is anticipating the trials but is lucky to have qualified for the World Junior standards.
