The USA Athletes Won Gold with a World-Leading Time of 41.14 Seconds
Jamaica’s 4x100m relay women’s team finished in second place in the finals of the ongoing World Championships. The first position was taken by the USA team.
This win means that Jamaica is fourth on the table with seven medals. The Caribbean country has one bronze medal, four silver medals and two gold medals.
The USA continue to lead with 28, followed by Ethiopia (10) and Kenya are into third with eight medals.
The USA athletes produced an impressive performance with a world-leading time of 41.14 seconds to deny Jamaica a first place finish. Jamaica came in second with an impressive time of 41.18. This is the sixth-fastest time in history by the defending champion Jamaica. Jamaica and USA reversed positions from the last Olympics, where the US claimed silver and Jamaica snatched gold.
Jamaica tried to fight back with the help of 200 meters champion Shericka Jackson but Twanisha Terry was too strong in the final leg.
Dina Asher-Smith’s day was ruined by injury and this created space for Germany to clinch a third-placed finish.
All neutral spectators were looking at Jamaica’s all-star line-up.
The Caribbean country was represented by three 100m Olympic and world medalists. Some of the famous names include the fastest woman alive Thompson-Herah, 100m world champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Shericka Jackson; the fastest woman in 200m. This golden generation of Jamaican athletes has five individual medals from this World Championships between them.
