There are 22 clubs in the Concacaf League
A hat-trick by Andre Leslie helped Jamaican club Waterhouse secure a spot in the Scotiabank Concacaf League. This was on Wednesday, May 25th, at the Estadio Cibao in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic where they faced Puerto Rico’s Bayamon FC.
Stephen Williams of Waterhouse scored the first goal in the 67th minute. Leslie scored three goals also in a tough second half period during the 78th, 84th and 87th minutes.
After failing to earn an automatic spot at a Concacaf League by reaching the final of the Caribbean Club Championships, this was their third chance to make it to the league.
They previously failed again when they lost a third-place playoff in the same championships.
They had also been clobbered in a 3-1 defeat by Violette FC from Haiti. They were then beaten 2-0 by Arcahaie before a 0-0 draw with Vega Real.
Waterhouse and Vega Real met again in the third-place playoff but again ended the game in a 1-1 draw.
A dreadful penalty shoot-out followed granting Vega Real a 3-1 victory. The competition’s draw that will be held in Miami on Wednesday, June 8th, will help Waterhouse know their schedule. There are 22 clubs in the Concacaf League.
