The former Clarendon College standout can still win more accolades this season
Reggae Boyz Captain and PHILADELPHIA UNION goalkeeper Andre Blake has narrowly missed out on the Landon Donovan MVP award. He came third after Sebastian Driussi (Austin FC) and eventual winner Hany Mukhtar (Nashville SC).
Druissi got 16.80 per cent of all the votes, when compared to Blake’s 7.87 per cent and Mukhtar’s 48.08 per cent. The winner is determined using votes from the media, club technical staff and a poll of players.
The 31-year-old is the leading goalie in the MLS when it comes to clean sheets (15) this season. He became the first player in league history to win All-State MLS Goalkeeper of the Year three times (2016, 2020, 2022).
He was part of an incredible MLS run when the Union conceded the fewest goals ever in a 34-game season (just 26 goals in the regular season).
The former Clarendon College standout can still win more accolades this season, as his Eastern Conference-winning Philadelphia Union team will tackle Western Conference winners and in-form Los Angeles FC in the MLS Cup final on November 5.
