Jamaica’s team won 37 medals which included 9 bronze, 12 silver and 16 gold medals
The Jamaica United Artistic Swimming Team produced some outstanding performances when they competed in a recent event in Florida. The group was composed of 21 athletes who clinched medals in various age categories.
The swimmers operate under the guidance of the Aquatic Sports Association of Jamaica. The athletes took part in the Worldwide Invitational Meet. The event was held between May 17 to 19. It happened in Coral Springs, Florida.
The ASAJ vice-president, Robyn Chin Sang, praised the swimmers for flying the Jamaican flag on the international stage.
Jordayna Thomas and Naimah Renford emerged as Jamaica’s brightest stars in this event. they contributed heavily to the team’s 37 medals which included 9 bronze, 12 silver and 16 gold medals. These was an impressive feet when compared to their competitors.
The team has improved on the 25 medals that they won in 2023. The medals included six bronze, four silver and 15 gold medals. Jamaica was represented by an 18-member team in last year’s event.
This year’s team’s showcased it’s versatility by competing categories. Some of these categories include trio, duet, solo and team routines.
Chin Sang said that the swimmers achieved their impressive medal haul because the athletes are dedicated to their craft. She also praised the coaches for guiding the young athletes. She proceeded to thank the parents for their unwavering support.
The swimmers worked hard for countless hours of hard work. Their coaches exposed them to rigorous training programme. The coaches came up with effective strategies that were executed by the swimmers.
Chin Sang believes that the current success will inspire the next generation of artistic swimmers. She thanked VM Group for providing funding through their sponsorship deal. She announced that there will be national trials on June 29. These trials will also serve as a development meet.
