The Arnett Gardens’ head coach believes that his team could have secured victory had they utilized all the opportunities they had during the game
The recent Jamaica Premier League (JPL) match between Arnett Gardens FC and Portmore United at Stadium East ended with a 1-1 draw. According to Paul Davis, the Arnett Gardens’ head coach, his team wasted three points they could have secured during the game.
Damari Deacon, Arnett’s substitute, scored the game’s first goal in the 54th minute but Portmore United’s Tevin Scott equaled the score during the 60th minute.
Arnett Gardens have been on an unbeaten streak throughout this season. They currently have 7 points on the standings alongside Montego Bay United and Harbour View.
Davis believes that his team could have secured victory had they utilized all the opportunities they had during the game. He further stated that his players were not disciplined during the match.
Arnett Gardens dominated the game before the break but failed to convert some possible goals due to poor finishing from Ajuma Johnson, Kimani Arbouine and Marlon Allen. Johnson had the best chance but ended up firing wide of the target 10 yards away.
Arnett finally secured their first goal merely nine minutes after the break when Deacon got close to Portmore’s post and managed to get past goalkeeper Benjamin Williams.
All the same, Portmore’s equalizer was brought about by Scott four minutes later when he fired a clean shot from 12 yards that could not be saved by goalkeeper Eric Edwards.
Meanwhile, Portmore’s head coach, Philip Williams said that he was happy with the game outcome.
Earlier on, Harbour View faced Mount Pleasant in a game that ended with a 1-1 draw. Mount Pleasant took an early lead in the 8th minute thanks to Sue Lae McCalla but Harbour View equalized the score when Colorado Murray scored in the 73rd minute.
