Colorado Springs Switchbacks of the United Soccer League (USL) recently signed Reggae Boyz Romario Williams as their newest team member in preparation of the upcoming season.
The documents were officially signed on Thursday the player is yet to be approved by the federation and the league. Williams has been playing for New Mexico United for a period of 6 months as from July last year. During this period, he scored 1 goal from a total of the 10 matches. Over the last 5 years, Williams has played for 6 clubs. From 2020 to 2021, the forward was not in the United States soccer scene because he was playing in Kuwait and Egypt.
Williams revealed that he is looking forward to joining the club. He hopes to apply his productivity to aid in the growth of the club. He hopes to bring a big impact to the young club.
Last year saw Colorado Springs Switchbacks get third place in the Western Conference standings thus making them proceed to the Championships. They were beaten by San Antonio FC who ended up becoming last year’s USL champions.
According to Switchbacks’ head coach and general manager Brendan Burke, Williams value is of great importance to his team as it will help better their strike force in the near and long-term future. The player will play alongside fellow former Reggae Boyz stars such as Devon ‘Speedy’ Williams, Maalque Foster and Deshane Beckford. ‘Speedy’ was signed in December last year.
