Glenn Lawrence, the Chief Executive Officer at the Couples Resorts, stated that sports, particularly golf, was of great importance to the welfare of the local communities. This was after Sunday saw the company’s charity golf tournament make history by helping several organizations raise $2.2 million.
Sunday also saw the 21st staging of the scramble competition that went down at the Sandals Golf and Country Club in Upton, St Mary. The net scoring category was topped by Diane Hudson and Carlysle while Nick Tassone and Raymond Rhudd topped the gross score.
Among the main beneficiaries from the amount raised from the tournament is Three Hills Primary School under the administration of Principal Slean Harris who showcased much gratitude for the support they have been receiving.
One long time partner of the Couples Charity Golf Tournament is Digicel Business. According to the firm’s general manager, Darragh Fitzgerald Selby, the event works hand in hand with his company’s goal of helping the local community.
Meanwhile, Diane Hudson’s and Carlysle’s victory won them a gift basket from NCB as well as a staycation at the Couples Resorts for two nights. In addition, Tassone and Rhudd also won the two-night staycation as well as Bignel Medi Spa certificates.
Second place in net scores was grabbed by Mike Gleichman and Robert Chin while Carl Brown and Gifford Wilmot took third place. Second-place holders in gross score were Zandre Roye and Oshane Haye while the putting contest was won by Joe Allen. As for the closest to the pin contest, the winners were Leon Lue, Paul Chin, Sedwick Gordon and Roy Howe.
