Hibbert performed well in the Olympics despite having a torn meniscus
Doctors have completed a minor surgery on Jaydon Hibbert to rectify an issue he has been dealing with. According to reports, the jumper has been carrying a torn meniscus ever since he competed in the Jamaica National Championships.
However, this injury didn’t stop him from being one of Jamaica’s representatives at the Paris Olympics. He came close to winning a medal although he wasn’t at his best. Hibbert is regarded as a prospect who will dominate track and field in the coming years.
Hibbert injured himself after she landed awkwardly while competing in a Triple Jump event. Unfortunately, this injury was caused by an under-prepared pit. The doctors ensured that they managed him carefully ahead of the Olympics.
Travis Geopfert, who is Hibbert’s coach, has said that she is proud of Hibbert’s resilience. He produced a commendable performance although he was battling through pain. Geopfert also works at Kansas State University as the Director of Track and Field and Cross Country.
Geopfert praised Hibbert for showing the mentality that is required to be a world-class athlete. He feels that Hibbert has shown the world that he is ready to conquer the sport of track and field. Geopfert said that the 19-year-old jumper is undergoing a rehabilitation process that isn’t expected to last long.
Geopfert remains positive about Hibbert’s future even though he couldn’t compete in the World U20 Championships.
Geopfert also had nice words to say about his other jumpers like silver medalist Wayne Pinnock, high jump finalist Romaine Beckford and long jump finalist Carey McLeod. Geopfert believes that these athletes made Jamaica proud in the just-concluded Paris Olympic games.
