Dr Paul Wright Concerned That Michail Antonio’s Injury Might End His Career

He suffered from lower-leg fractures after being involved in a car crash

Dr Paul Wright; an expert in sports medicine, has expressed concern that Michail Antonio could have sustained some career-ending injuries. The Reggae Boyz striker recently involved in a car crash.
He revealed that Antonio might endure a long recovery process because of where the injury occurred. However, he warned that this might be the end of the striker’s football career because lower-leg fractures can be devastating.
According to Wright, Antonio might lose his best attributes. This type of injuries might have a negative effect on his speed.
“His game is based around speed and strength. That’s what we’ve come to expect when he plays for the Jamaica national team. It’s not easy for a 34-year-old to recover from fractures. I won’t be surprised if he decides to get a coaching licence and he decides to help other people,” said Wright.
It’s not a far-fetched idea for Wright to suggest that Antonio should move to coaching. The Reggae Boyz striker recently launched a football academy in Ghana. The academy is meant to nurture young footballers with the hope of turning them into professionals.
According to reports, Antonio crashed his Ferrari into a tree. The striker was trapped in the car for 45 minutes. He was eventually saved and airlifted to hospital. This event happened +in +Essex County, England.
Eventually, he received the attention of doctors who conducted a surgery on him.
“The legs don’t receive the best blood supply from the heart. This means that a leg injury will require a longer time to heal when compared to other body parts like arms. The blood supply is poor in all areas below the knees,” he said.
Dr Wright said that the recovery period could last for a whole year. It takes a long time to even walk again. Antonio is West Ham’s all-time scoreer with a total of 83 goals in 322 occasions. He also boasts of five goals in 21 appearances for the Jamaican national team.
“We suspect the compound fracture has caused internal fixation. He will be subjected to antibiotics during the recovery period. It will rwquire a whole year to even walk on crutches,” said Wright.
