Dennis Chung, the JFF general secretary, has said that FIFA is preparing to pay the Reggae Girlz before the week ends. This payment comes after the Girlz reached the knockout stage of the FIFA Women’s World Cup. The payment is meant to reward their historic performances in the tournament. The competition was held in Australia and New Zealand
FIFA will give the federation US$1,870,000 in prize money. The JFF will forward 20 per cent of the money to the players. Every individual player will also receive US$60,000 for reaching the round of 16.
Chung revealed that the federation will also pay off all the outstanding debt that is owed to the players from 2022. They will also pay all the money owed to officials and management.
According to Chung, FIFA will send the money directly into the players’ accounts. He also revealed that they are working with FIFA to pay tax to the Australian government.
The federation is currently signing off on some final documents that are required by FIFA. Chung believes that the prize money will reach the players by the end of the week.
Chung added: “The JFF isn’t concerned that FIFA decided to send the money directly to the players. He said that the that the most important thing is that the players will be rewarded for their efforts.”
