Guyana Team Slingerz FC Signs Brackenridge

In 2016, the defender was included in the Reggae Boyz squad. However, he did not get a chance to play for the national team

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Romaine Brackenridge has joined Slingerz FC in Guyana after leaving Jamaican club Harbour View FC. This move comes after he switched allegiance from Jamaica to Guyana.

In 2016, the defender was included in the Reggae Boyz squad. However, he did not get a chance to play for the national team. The tough-tackling defender decided to play for the Guyana team in order to get more playing time. He debuted for his new team in a match against Barbados, this game happened in November 2024.
“I have an opportunity to represent Slingerz, which is the best club in Guyana. This why I would like to thank God for blessing me,” Brackenridge said.
“My family and I have been overwhelmed by this opportunity. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to represent Slingerz,” he added.

Brackenridge, 30, studied at the Caribbean Maritime University, Vauxhall High and Harbour View Primary School. The Jamaican-born player spent a lot of time in England.
He has represented numerous clubs in the Jamaican Premier League. He has won titles with Harbour View in 2022 and Portmore United in 2017.
He captained Tivoli Gardens and helped Portmore United win the 2019 CONCACAF Caribbean Club Championship.

It was only a matter of time before he played Slingerz FC. He is eligible to play for Guyana because his grandparents have roots in the country.
“I’m on a mission to help Slingerz win as many titles as possible. I want to leave them in a better position than I found them,” said Brackenridge.
“Playing for this club will also help me build close relationships with my international teammates. Guyana has a beautiful culture and I’m excited to be here,” he added.
