Dharry revealed that he is pushing to get a title fight in his homeland, Guyana. He is hoping to do it on May 3
Guyana’s Elton Dharry is hoping to secure a title fight after his latest knockout victory. The prized fighter closed the year with an impressive KO of Colombia’s Randy Ramirez.
This was a dominant performance because the knockout arrived in the second round of the fight. The two boxers were competing in a bantamweight bout that was scheduled for six rounds. The fight was held in the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH), Homestretch Avenue, Georgetown.
This win means that Dharry has cemented his record to an impressive 27-6-1. He can start thinking about the champion because he is ranked fourth in the WBA rankings. This title fight is expected to happen in 2025.
“I went into the fight believing that I was more mentally prepared than my opponent.” I was expecting to encounter a very aggressive fighter. Ramirez is known for his knockouts and in addition to this, he was young and undefeated,” said Dharry.
“I expected him to come at me. I used my experience to predict his moves before he executed them. This is the advantage I had as the older fighter. I set traps and pounced later in the fight. However, I was surprised that he had more power than I expected.”
Dharry revealed that he has been pushing for one of his fights to be held in his homeland, Guyana.
“I’m hoping to do it on May 3. Originally, I had received an invitation to compete for the world title on February 15. This one was scheduled to happen in South Africa . Another option was New York. However, I prefer to do it in Guyana.” Dharry added.
