Harbour View Clip Dunbeholden In A Penalty Shoot-Out For 5th National Title

They Have Now Added Their Fifth title

Harbour View defeated Dunbeholden in a penalty shoot-out in the finals at Sabina Park. Harbour View are commonly known as the ” stars of the east” who had last won their titles in the 2012-2013 season. They added their fifth title when they won against Dunbeholden FC 6-5.

Harbour View showed early signs of dominance when they scored the opening goal of the match. Demario Phillips later pulled Dunbeholden level resulting in extra time and a penalty shoot out to determine the outcome.

Players such as Trayvon Reid, Nicholas Hamilton, Oshane Staple, Shamari Dyer, and Murray all converted from the 12-yard spot for Harbour View, with Ajeanie Talbott also hitting the target in sudden death.

However, the Dunbeholden was also perfect in spot kicks for their first five through players like Atapharoy Bygrave, Phillips, DeanAndre Thomas, Nicky  Christian and Dwayne smith.

Fabian McCarthy stepped up the belief that the shoot-out would be extended by his team, but it ended in heartbreak for St Catherine-based team, who were participating in their first Jamaica premier league finals since earning promotion back in the 2018-2019 season.

It was an excellent start for the Harbour View as they competed in front when Murray fired past Damion Hyatt’s goal for Dunbeholden for his seventh goal in the current season.

In addition, Dunbeholden later settled and had a pass-through, applying more effort with a few build-ups. They could also not defend the goal from Anthony Bennet, who belonged to the Harbour View team.

Although the competition was stiff, Harbour View had a happy ending as their main aim was not to maintain a good title run but rather to win it all.

The Harbour View won despite inconsistent performances in the Jamaica premier league (JPL). Both teams played for extra time, which gave Dunbeholden an opportunity, but they failed to capitalize because Amal knight, the substitute goalkeeper of Harbour view, was well-positioned.
