The Herbert Morrison Technical team defeated Manchester High team to secure the Under-14 boys ISSA Rural Area basketball championship. The two teams were competing at STETHS High School in Santa Cruz.
Herbert Morrison Technical delivered a spirited effort in the fourth quarter to earn a 30-23 win against their opponents. This game was of the Under-14 basketball competition.
Manchester High were trailing by a point after the first quarter. However, they were the dominant team by half-time. By the third quarter, the two teams had accumulated an equal amount of points. The Herbert Morrison players took the title after delivering their best quarter of the game. Their coach said that the Montego Bay-based school wouldn’t have won the game if it wasn’t for their mental fortitude.
Knox College won with a score-line of 44-34 when the faced Cornwall College. The winners showcased their dominance over the last two quarters. The to teams were competing in the third place play-off.
Alexander Corrodus had eight rebounds and scored 11 points and in the final. On the other hand, Herbert Morrison’s Michael Johnson delivered eight points when his team was leading 5-4 in the first quarter.
Manchester High led 14-13 by half-time after beginning the second quarter with a bang. By the time the fourth quarter arrived, the two rivals were tied at 18-all. It’s at this point that Herbert Morrison dominated with a score-line of 12-5 to defeat their bitter rivals.
Knox College began their game with a bang it wasn’t surprising that they were leading 15-7 after the first quarter. By half-time, the Clarendon-based school was leading with a score-line of 19-17. By the third quarter, they were up 30-21. On the other hand, Nathan Hines of Cornwall College scored a game-high 23 points.
