KINGSTON, Jamaica— Alliyah McNeil recently participated in the Leonard Hilton Memorial. The University of Minnesota student cleared 1.80m while competing in the high jump category. The event was hosted by the University of Houston.
She delivered a sublime performance although it wasn’t as good as her indoor personal best of 1.81m. She is currently has one of the best clearance in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division 1. She is a former student athlete who went through St Elizabeth Technical High.
At the same meet, Kaylea Demetrius, the ex-William Knibb Memorial athlete, finished in 15th place after throwing 11.94m in the shot put. He belongs in Division 2 Texas A&M University- Kingsville.
Shaquena Foote secured the third position in the women’s 60m, with a personal best 7.35 seconds. She belongs to the University of San Diego. She was participating in the Silver and Blue Invitational that was hosted by the University of Nevada.
The ex-Petersfield High runner is the sixth-fastest athlete in the school’s history. She did better than her previous best time of 7.43 seconds. She set this record in 2024.
Britannia Johnson who represents the University of Purdue finished sixth in the women’s weight throw. She threw a personal best of 18.11m. He delivered this performance while participating in the University of Kentucky Rod McCravy indoor meet.
She performed better than her original PB of 17.73m that was secured at the Blue Demon Holiday Invite. The ex-Camperdown High thrower was active at the end of last year.
Her twin sister Britannie threw 17.09m as she finished in 10th position.
Triple jumper Luke Brown ran in 6.82 seconds during Friday’s prelims. He hails from the University of Kentucky. This performance allowed him to qualify for the men’s 60m final.
The University of Kentucky was also represented by Oneika McAnuff. She won the women’s 300m after running a personal best 37.48 seconds.
