Windies Beaten by India ICC Women’s World Cup

Windies Need a Win in their Next Game

India defeated the Windies in their first game in the ICC Women’s World Cup. The Indian women’s team registered by 155 runs in Hamilton, New Zealand. 

India batted first, posting 317-8 off their 50 overs. The leading Indian scorers were Simriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Haur. Simriti Mandhana came out on top after scoring 123. She was followed by Harmanpreet Haur who scored 109. The Caribbean side replied through Annisa Mohammed who took 2-59.

The response saw the West Indies bowl out for 162. The windies leading scorer was Deandra Dottin who produced 62 points. Hayley Matthews also impressed by scoring 43. The Indians took 3-22 for the Indians through Sneeh Rana.

The Caribbean side will next be in action against Australia on Monday evening Jamaica time. With the loss, the West Indies have slipped to 5th in the table on 4 points. The Windies are hoping to secure a win against Australia in their next game that happens today.
