Inter Miami will be hoping that Messi will be available to play in the second leg. Many pundits feel that the MLS team didn’t take full advantage of the dominant performance. Perhaps they would have scored more goals if Messi (who is considered as the world’s best footballer) was present. Cavalier defenders made it hard for the Inter Miami attackers to score in the early stages of the game. In fact, it was only via a moment of individual brilliance that the hosts scored their opening goal.
The Cavalier fans had something to celebrate when Shaquille Stein scored on the stroke of half-time. However, the referee rejected the goal because one of the Cavalier players was in an offside position.
Inter Miami produced a more energised performance in the second half. They controlled the tempo of the match and killed any momentum of their opponents.
The game was viewed by approximately 15,413 fans.
“It doesn’t feel good to lose but I promise you that we will bounce back. It usually helps. I’ll give my players a day off and then we can focus on the second leg. The Cavalier players will be motivated to leave a lasting impression because they will be playing on home soil,” the Cavalier head coach said.
