He was removed from their Elite Panel of Umpires
ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates (CMC) — The International Cricket Council has removed Joel Wilson from their Elite Panel of Umpires.
The Trinidad and Tobago international has been sidelined together with England’s Michael Gough. He has umpired in 67 test matches, 71 Twenty20 Internationals and 140 One-Day Internationals (ODIs).
Wilson, 58, recently worked as a match official in the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy. He was the sole umpire of the Caribbean region.
Gough and Wilson have made way for Alex Wharf and Allahudien Paleker.
Paleker has officiated in both women’s and men’s international games. He was in charge of four Tests, 67 T20Is and 23 ODIs. Paleker is a South African who used to work as a first-class cricketer.
He has worked as an official during several major ICC tournaments. Some of them include the 2024 Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup and the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup.
On the other hand, Wharf has represented England in 13 ODIs. He will bring a wealth of experience thanks to his first-class career that lasted for 16 years.
He has officiated on-field in 45 T20Is, 33 ODIs and seven Tests in men’s international cricket.
Wharf stood in the 2025 Men’s Champions Trophy, 2024 Women’s and Men’s T20 World Cups as well as the ICC Women’s and Men’s and Cricket World Cups.
