According to Lee Carsley, the England interim manager, they ‘didn’t consider’ Greenwood when they were choosing their squad
Jamaica has been given the greenlight to include Mason Greenwood in their national team. Greenwood has been in good form ever since he signed for French side Marseille.
According to Lee Carsley, the England interim manager, they ‘didn’t consider’ Greenwood when they were choosing their squad. Jamaica can exploit this situation by including him in the Reggae Boyz squad.
“I’m aware that Mason has been performing at a high level and he has adapted quickly to the French league. However, I like being honest with players. I didn’t consider him in my team selection,” said Carsely.
Greenwood was removed from the England squad by former head coach Gareth Southgate. This came after his spouse accused him of domestic abuse and attempted rape. However, he got an opportunity to fix his career after the case was thrown out of court.
It seems unlikely that Greenwood will return to the The Three Lions squad. However, Greenwood is still an eligible Jamaican international because his father was born in the Caribbean nation.
Heimir Hallgrimsson; the ex Reggae Boyz coach, was the first manager to invite Greenwood into the national team. The ex-Manchester United attacker was also invited by new coach Steve McClaren.
According to the latest reports, the Jamaica Football Federation has been working on securing a passport for Greenwood. It is believed that Greenwood has already decided that his future belongs to the Reggae Boyz.
The England-born striker already has already registered five goals and one assist after only three appearances in the league.
