Jamaican Authorities Resurfacing The Running Track Of The National Stadium

The facility will host the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls’ Athletics Championships (Champs). Between March 25 and 29

Olivia Grange; who is Jamaica’s sports minister, said that they are struggling in their quest to resurface the running track of the National Stadium. She revealed that they are concerned about the unpredictability of the weather.

This means that they will have to be creative if they are going to complete the renovations in time. The facility will host the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls’ Athletics Championships (Champs). The event is expected to take place between March 25 and 29.

Champs is an athletics showpiece that is meant for student athletes. The high school event will last for five days. Enthusiasts have called for the postponement of the renovations. Grange has responded by saying that they are exploring all their options. She promised that the track will be in “good condition” when the competition begins.

“The weather is a major factor because the track must be completely dry before the track is laid,” she said.

Grange revealed that they are currently in the advanced stages of the renovations.

The authorities are also working on improving Sabina Park. They will focus on improving the lights of this facility. These lights will be important because this facility will host the Australia’s tour of the Caribbean. This tour will happen in July.

“We are dealing with a very old facility. That’s why we’re dealing with numerous problems at the same time. When you fix one part of the stadium another part demands your attention. We are doing everything in our power to ensure that we can host international events,” Grange said.
