Jamaica will be represented by boxers Sanji Williams and Jaden Eccleston in the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games. The competition will happen today in El Salvador.
Ecceleston will be competing against home boy Jairo Luna. The two light heavyweight fighters are expected to put in an entertaining performance because they fight in a southpaw stance. The fight is expected to begin at 2:00 pm (3:00 pm Jamaica time).
The second match will feature Puerto Rico’s Calab Tirado competing against Sanji Williams. The featherweight bout will take place after the Luna and Eccelston fight.
Jamaican coach Felipe Sanchez said that their boxers are raring to go because they believe in their preparation. They hope to put in impressive performances in for the championships.
Sanchez is confident that both of his fighters have what it takes to win. He revealed that the fighters are still doing drills since they arrived in El Salvador.
Sanchez believes that the Jaden vs Luna match will attract a lot of attention. He believes that they have a solid game plan to dominate in the tournament.
The other Jamaican boxers who will be competing in the tournament are middleweight Tevoy Barrett and Lightweight Daniel Hylton.
Sanchez said that Ecceleston will have to win the first match in order to set the tone for the other fights. He believes that their biggest competitors will be Puerto Rico, Cuba, Dominican Republic and Colombia.
The Jamaican team enjoyed a proper camp because they were based in the JDF (Jamaica Defence Force) barracks. They had access to modern training equipment. The intense training routines lasted for around one month.
