World leader Smith won the women’s long jump on her final attempt of 6.88 metres
Jamaican athletes have been shining at the NCAA Division One Outdoor Championships. The Caribbean athletes have now recorded two wins in the long jump category. Ackelia Smith emerged as the winner in the women’s event. This came after Carey McLeod’s recent victory in the men’s long jump.
World leader Smith won the women’s long jump on her final attempt of 6.88 metres. This victory secured the Jamaican her first NCAA title. The second position was grabbed by Alyssa Jones of Stanford with a distance 6.86. The third spot went to Jasmine Moore, the defending champion who hails from the University of Florida. Moore recorded a distance of 6.66.
