Hallgrimsson, while working with Lars Lagerback, helped Iceland qualify for the 2016 UEFA Championships quarter-finals
Jamaica Football Federation’s (JFF) president, Michael Ricketts, proclaimed that the position of Jamaica’s senior men’s team head coach has been offered to Heimir Hallgrimsson from Iceland in a deal that will last for four years. Ricketts also urged Reggae Boyz fans to throw their support behinf the new head coach.
Hallgrimsson stated that he was pleased to be involved in the project since he is quite impressed with the island nation. He revealed that he fell in love with Jamaica when he and his wife visited the country on a vacation ten years ago. He further explained that as coach, he will concentrate on growing the game in Jamaica while striving to make the team reach the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He also hopes to help the team win many games to keep his job starting with the upcoming match against Argentina.
Hallgrimsson, while working with Lars Lagerback, helped Iceland qualify for the 2016 UEFA Championships quarter-finals. Moreover, he was also Iceland’s head coach when they qualified for the 2018 FIFA World Cup before being appointed as Qatari’s team, Al-Arabi, head coach in 2018.
