JFF Gets More Money After FIFA Removes Restrictions

FIFA will require the JFF to organize competitions for boys, girls and women in order to get the full funding

The Jamaica Football Federation is set to receive more money from FIFA. This is because the global football governing body has removed numerous restrictions. The Jamaican authorities have been forced to work with a strict budget for the last five years.

“Things will be a bit easier for us now that FIFA has removed it’d restrictions. We won’t have to deal with restricted funding,” said JFF President Michael Ricketts. He was addressing journalists during an online press conference.

FIFA decided to make this decision after conducting an audit on how JFF has been managing football in Jamaica. This approval means that Jamaica currently meets all the conditions that are required by FIFA’s audit committee.

“The process was supervised by the JFF accounting department. I would like to thank Mrs. Grace Lewis, our general secretary (Dennis Chung) as well as other staff members, “added Ricketts. He revealed that they were determined to impress FIFA although the process was long and tedious.

However, Ricketts cautioned that the Jamaican authorities would have to maintain this trajectory in order to remain in the good books of FIFA.

According to Christophe Suppiger, who is FIFA’s head of the finance, the JFF will receive bigger instalments. They will also be considered when FIFA releases funding which was previously withheld. However, they will not receive any backlog in any one go.

FIFA will require the JFF to organize competitions for boys, girls and women in order to get the full funding.

Dennis Chung said that the Jamaican authorities are committed to proper financial governance.
