The federation is hoping to begin this initiative on February 6 and 9 when the national team faces Trinidad and Tobago
The Jamaica Football Federation is working streaming Reggae Boyz games through their YouTube channel. The federation is hoping to begin this initiative on February 6 and 9 when the national team faces Trinidad and Tobago.
The JFF Live channel will be officially launched on February 28. The officials are expected to disclose full details on this date.
The Reggae Boyz fans are encouraged to pay a US$9,99 monthly subscription fee. This subscription will allow them to watch live games, starting on February 6 when the Boyz clash against T&T.
The channel will not be limited to streaming live games. The fans can also access original content and interactive sessions.
Dennis Chung; the general secretary of the JFF, said that they are excited by the idea of entertaining Jamaican fans. He believes that this platform can help build the brand of the national team because YouTube can reach a worldwide audience. The games will feature both the women’s and men’s teams of all age groups.
“We’ve been working on this platform for a while. That’s why we are excited to launch it. We will create content that can be consumed by people from all over the world. We will not limit ourselves to Jamaica,” he said.
He revealed that the federation is anticipating the stadiums might not be able to handle a big crowd when Jamaica plays T&T. Fans can avoid these capacity issues by streaming the games on the JFF YouTube channel. The games will be hosted by Anthony Spaulding Complex and the Catherine Hall Complex.
JFF has started this initiative in partnership with Kingston Made Production. The two organizations began with a pilot initiative when South Africa faced the Reggae Girlz in November and December. They revealed that this pilot was a huge success.
They promised that their product will only get better as they gain more experience.
However, you will need to use a virtual private network if you are a local fan. A VPN is a secure connection between the internet and your device. This is the only way to access the matches if you’re in Jamaica.
It’s important to note that this is not a JFF requirement.
YouTube makes this demand for anything that’s subscriber based.
Avery Campbell, the new JFF marketing manager, revealed that they are working on expanding their social media presence. The social media platforms are also meant to give the Reggae Boyz fans a voice. The fans can give their opinions using comments and live interactions.
The social media platforms include an Instagram channel and a WhatsApp channel.
