JFF Working On Recruiting Mason Greenwood

Steve McClaren; the new Reggae Boyz coach, has played a major role in bringing Greenwood to Jamaica

The Jamaica Football Federation is working on recruiting Mason Greenwood for the Jamaican national team. According to Dennis Chung; the federation’s General Secretary, the authorities are processing the player’s passport.
However, Chung revealed that Reggae Boyz fans should be patient because it will take some time for the paperwork to be finalized.
“I have been informed that Greenwood is excited by the idea of playing for the Reggae Boyz squad. Although there is little information, the process of acquiring a passport is already at an advanced stage,” said Chung.
Greenwood is an ex Man United striker who currently plays for French club Marseille FC. He has had one senior appearance for the England national team. However, FIFA’s rules allow him to switch his allegiance to Jamaica. He qualifies to play for Jamaica because he has a Jamaican mother.
Greenwood was forced to leave Manchester United after he was charged with coercive behavior, domestic assault and attempted rape in 2022. However, this case was thrown out in February 2023. He recently completed a move to Marseille in a quest to rebuild his career.
He emerged as Marseille’s brightest player in their match against Brest. He scored two goals and recorded two assists during his first match in Ligue 1. Greenwood’s team won with a score-line of 5-1.
Chung said that he is hoping that the Marseille striker will be available when the Reggae Boyz face Cuba in the next international break.
Steve McClaren; the new Reggae Boyz coach, has played a major role in bringing Greenwood to Jamaica. McClaren has a strong relationship with Greenwood because he was part of Man United’s coaching staff.
