Most of the division winners will be participating in the Level 3 Florida Extreme Handgun Championships
The Jamaica Rifle Association (JRA) Grand Prix series hosted its first match last weekend. The event featured competitors from five divisions. The individuals will be competing for national honours.
International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) regions like JRA, Production, Production Optics, Standard and Open will be experimenting with the Standard Optics division.
Ryan Bramwell; who has been ever-present, came out on top after jumping in the deep end. He defeated Paul Shoucair (second) and Dufton Shepherd (third).
The most keenly contested event was the Open division. Alrice Palmer finished ahead of fast-improving Alan McNab. Corporal Shayon Francis delivered a spirited performance but it wasn’t enough to finish ahead of McNab.
Sanjay Welsh has always been consistent and that’s why it wasn’t shocking that he dominated the much-loved Production division. The second position was taken by veteran Anthony Johnson. The third position was taken by Matthew Smith Barrett, who was only 16 points away from being second.
Production Optics; which is the world’s fastest-growing division, was dominated by Chris Hart. He finished his day with a clean scoresheet; making him one of the most disciplined competitors. He reflected all shots on target. Petrano Belafonte held off the challenge of Michael Wilkinson to finish in the second place.
In the Standard Division, Darin Richards finished ahead of Dunstan Pryce and Thomas Jones. Richards recently finished on the podium in Argentina. He has also been performing well in other international events.
Most of the division winners will be participating in the Level 3 Florida Extreme Handgun Championships. The completion is expected to host at least 40 JRA competitors. They arrived in Florida earlier this week.
