The Jamaican winger passed his Charlton medical and is waiting waiting for a work permit
Kaheim Dixon is set to be announced as a Charlton Athletic player after he passed his medical test. The English club is now waiting for government officials to finish processing the forward’s work permit. This information was released by Peter Thelwell; the general manager Arnett Gardens.
Thelwell revealed that club is keen on completing the transfer before August 30; the deadline day of the English transfer window. The 19 year-old Dixon is expected to debut in the English League One. The teenager spent the last season as an Arnett Gardens player.
Thelwell said that Dixon has been interacting with the other players although he hasn’t been involved in training sessions.
Foreign players normally receive work permits from the English Football Association. According to the law, Dixon needs to have participated in 75 per cent of Reggae Boyz matches over the last two years.
The law also demands that Jamaica should have been in the top 50 FIFA rankings in the last two-years. The Caribbean nation is currently ranked in the 59th position in the FIFA rankings. The highest position that Jamaica has reached in the past four years is 47. However, the Reggae Boyz ranking has fluctuated between 53 and 59 since 2022.
Nevertheless, Dixon has played in seven of his nation’s recent games. The winger has scored three goals since then. He has delivered impressive performances in all his Reggae Boyz outings, including the recent Copa America.
Thelwell believes that the international caps will improve Dixon’s chances of getting his work permit. He believes that the English club is doing everything they can to sign the forward.
