Shaw’s best performance came in City’s victory over Tottenham Hotspur. She scored a hat-trick in a game that was played at the Etihad Stadium.
The 27-year-old will go down in history as the player with the most hattricks in the Women’s Super League. This means that she has surpassed teammate Vivianne Miedema.
She will also be remembered for being the first Women’s Super League player to score three hat-tricks against the same team. All these goals came against Tottenham Hotspurs.
The Jamaican striker also scored in her team’s 3-0 win over Crystal Palace. This was an important achievement because Manchester City was celebrating its 200th appearance in the WSL league.
Some of the other players who have been nominated for the award include Aston Villa’s Anna Patten, West Ham’s Katrina Gorry, West Ham’s Katrina Gorry, Arsenal duo Alessia Russo and Steph Catley. The list also includes Chelsea pair Guro Reiten and Mayra Ramirez.
